We are trying to build upon the existing AweSEM concept by Prof. Manu Prakash and Prof. Fabian Pease who set out to make an affordable electron microscope so that it is easily accessible to everyone out there.
Scanning Electron Microscopes(SEM) are really expensive and cost upwards of thousands of USD and are practically impossible for schools to afford on a tight budget. Most of us as students have also not had the chance to interact with a real electron microscope before and thereby making it even more exciting for us to be working on.
